Shakr Dynamic Geo Ads FAQ

Here are some of the most Frequently Asked Questions regarding our Shakr Dynamic Geo Ads solution.

Campaign Preparation

Who creates custom templates?

  • Creative templates can be created by any designer who’s able to work with Adobe After Effects. If you need help to design a custom creative template, let us know and the Shakr Creative Labs team will help design it for you.

How can we best get started to set up the feed/planning sheet?

  • You can copy the example sheet (Click HERE to access). Feel free to ask us any questions about the planning sheet.

Generic Creatives

What is a ‘Generic’ (fallback) creative?

A fallback creative (also called a ‘generic creative’) is creative to be shown when an assigned location(s) have a too narrow an audience or there is no match in the targeting location.

Here, ‘too narrow audience’ implies targeted locations that have less than 1,000 users. Here is an example scenario of how ‘fallback’ creative works.

A ‘fallback (generic)’ creative does NOT contain information about a specific location. Instead, the creative contains information that can cover any location within a country or city. For example:

  • United States instead of New York.
  • Australia instead of Sydney.
  • Seoul instead of Gangnam-Gu (District in Seoul).

Do we need to use the fallback/generic creative?

  • Yes, the fundamental nature of SAC campaigns requires Location-specific ad creatives + 1 Generic ad creative. The fallback creative is used to cover any locations that are too small (in terms of audience) to be targeted on Facebook, as well as cover any non-targeted location if you include a larger overall target area (e.g localize for cities but run a state/national wide campaign).

Campaign Settings

What campaign objective can we use?

Currently, we support the following campaign objectives:

  • Conversions
  • Brand Awareness
  • Video Views
  • Traffic

How many localized creatives can we make?

  • You can export up to 199 localized creatives plus 1 “fallback” (Generic) creative per campaign using the self-serve Shakr Local Campaign Wizard.
  • We can help you with on-demand managed support if you want to export more than 199 localized creatives plus 1 Generic creative. Please let us know and we can support!

What is the maximum number of localized creatives that one Ad Set can carry in the exported Facebook campaign?

  • Max number of localized creatives that an Ad Set – Ad can carry is 49 +1 (Generic).

Localized creative divisions per Facebook Ad Sets in the campaign.

  • If you have exported more than 49 localized creatives, then another Ad Set – Ad will be generated.
  • The number of localized creatives will be divided evenly as possible per Ad Set, in a way that is close to, and doesn’t exceed the maximum 49 locations (localized creatives) per Ad Set.
  • e.g.) If there are 199 Localized Creatives + 1 Generic Creative then there will be below number of Ad Sets, Ads generated in the exported Facebook campaign.
  • Ad Set 1 – Ad 1: 40 localized +1 generic
  • Ad Set 2 – Ad 2: 40 localized +1 generic
  • Ad Set 3 – Ad 3: 40 localized +1 generic
  • Ad Set 4 – Ad 4: 40 localized +1 generic
  • Ad Set 5 – Ad 5: 39 localized + 1 generic

Do we need different Generic Creative per Ad Set?

  • No you only need one Generic creative per campaign. Same Generic creative will be used for multiple number of Ad Sets – Ad within a campaign.

Can we group multiple locations for a single localized assets?

Can we use custom audiences? How?

  • Yes, once the campaign is exported from Shakr to Facebook, you can layer on any custom audiences or interest targeting.

After Publishing Campaigns

What type of changes/edits can we make to the campaign once it’s in the ads manager?

  • Campaign Level: Edits/changes can be made like normal campaigns.
  • Ad set level: Edits/changes can be made like normal ad set. However, if audience changes shrink the audience for a specific location below 1,000, the specific location will see the generic asset.
  • Ad level: No changes should be made.

Can we duplicate a campaign created with Shakr Dynamic Geo Ads?

  • A campaign can be duplicated – for example, you can create an A/B test between two different campaigns with different audience targeting as long as the campaign objective remains the same.

Can we duplicate an ad set within a Shakr Dynamic Geo Ads campaign?

  • Yes, ad sets can be duplicated. However, if audience changes shrink the audience for a specific location below 1000, the specific location will see the ‘Generic’ creative asset.

Campaign Performance

How can we remove a piece of creative that’s not performing?

  • In order to remove a piece of creative for a specific location, go into the ad set setting and remove the targeting for that location. When the location is no longer targeted, the specific creative asset will not be served.

Can we analyze performance on each piece of creative? How?

  • In the ads manager, at the ad level, go to: Breakdown > By Dynamic Creative Element > Image, Video and Slideshow.
